The Leadership of Youruba council worldwide have set aside May 1st , 2023 to host all Yoruba indigenous across Nigeria in Lagos state on its annual median festival tagged ” Omoluabi Festival” , a festival that will showcase all the qualities of a true Yoruba culture and it’s values , also the socio – economic aspect of it’s kind .
President of the council Aare Oba Oladotun Hassan , while briefing journalist in alausa , Lagos on Friday , emphasized on importance of the festival as a platform for every Yoruba to engrossed with their cultural values and also maintained the educational standard which will pave way for a promotional heritage and unity . He also stated that it is not a political affair but a cultural stage that will be birthed on Educational standard which the Yoruba is known for during the time of Pa Obafemi Awolowo, the pioneer of Yoruba indigenous education that still exist in our culture .
Oba Hassan also urged the government to privatize education like other developed country , which will boost Nigeria educational standard above 25% to 30% according to the UN reports . He said the festival will also dwell on the Educational Trust Funds that have drawn reactions as it will be unveil at the festival ,
“This program will impact true cultural values to our generation from the cradle to the adulthood which we have abandon for long , that is why we will be showcasing our educational values , hospitality values , and re orient our people on building a decent lives outside , what people see today , Yoruba culture is blessed , due to our high level of education which we are meant for , so this programe will bring together too personality from around the world with their ideas and drive ” he said .
This year’s edition will host His Imperial Majesty, Arole Olofin Adimula Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, Ojaja 11, Ooni of Ife as Royal Grand Host, His Royal Majesty, Oba Riliwan Osuolale Akiolu, Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla 111, The Elegushi of Ikate Land and Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal Oniru, The Oniru of Iru Victoria Island to lead all Yoruba Obas, while His Excellency, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is the Chief Host to lead other Southwestern Governors and political leaders.
Also, the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the Special Guest of Honour at this epoch making event.
The Omoluabi Festival is the annual Yoruba global day that is approved and endorsed by the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi alongside the late Alaafin of Oyo,Oba Atanda Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, Iku Baba Yeye of blessed memory.
