Akeredolu sure of victory
The incumbent governor of Ondo state and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in today’s election, Rotimi Akeredolu has declared faith to win the governorship election.
The governor spoke with newsmen on Saturday at Ijebu 2 Unit 006 Ward 5, Ijebu-Owo in Owo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state after casting his ballot.
He said although, he was not sure how it will happen, victory is sure for him and his party.
“I am confident about winning this election. I have always said my confidence is about God, and God, in his infinite mercies, will give me victory.
“I don’t know what will happen. All I know is that when my victory is announced, everybody will be joyous, there will be clapping and singing,” he said.

An aide to to Dr Olusegun Mimiko, Immediate past Governor of Ondo State and National Leader of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has debunked a rumour making rounds that candidate of the ZLP had stepped down from the governorship election.
John Paul Akinduro, Special Assistant (Media) to Dr Mimiko, said the information is fake, while advising that such be discountenanced.

9:43am: Sporadic shootings have been reported at Pollíng Unit 11, Edo Lodge in Oke Ijebu, Akure. Ondo police spokesman, Tee-Lee Ikoro confirmed the incident. He said mobile policemen have been deployed to the area.

8:30am: INEC personnel, Security agencies, Accredited observers, party agents and voters already on ground in Akure South local government council area, ward 05, PU 021, school of Nursing and in Alagbaka pry school, Alagbaka ward 05, PU 018 and 019 Akure South LG, accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously at 8.30am. The weather has changed and reports from Owo local government council area has it that it is raining cats and dogs, which would likely hamper the turnout of voters.

The people of Ondo state have renewed the mandate given to Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for another four years in office as he emerged victorious in yesterday’s keenly contested election.
The incumbent governor who was also the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in that election, won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas in the state.
According to the official final results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ), Akeredolu polled a total of 292,830 to defeat his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won in three local government areas.
Akeredolu estranged deputy, Agboola Ajayi who flew the flag of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) could not win a single Local Government.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Eyitayo Jegede has won his polling unit.
He polled 220 votes to defeat Akeredolu of the APC who scored 60 and Agboola who polled seven votes.
Jegede votes at Unit 009, Ward 2, Akure LG located inside Sacred Heart Primary School, Cathedral area of Akure.
At the second unit in the primary school, Jegede polled 158 votes to defeat APC candidate who polled 43 and ZLP candidate Ajayi Agboola who polled four votes.
