Election crisis: party agent evades arrest, jets out of country
An agent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who was also one of the people that masterminded the crisis during the just concluded presidential Election in Benin, Edo State Capital has evaded arrest and reportedly escaped to unknown destination.
The agent identified as Isaiah Otunaye, according to a source spent few days in Lagos before he finally run away from the country to a yet to be identified country, to avoid police arrest.
Another source, who is a member of his family, who identified herself as Itohan however suspected he may have run to Italy.
The Edo state police command last week vowed to bring to book those that masterminded the crisis that ensured between the supporters of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and PDP during the March 28thpresidential election in Uhunmwande Local government Area of Edo state.
The crisis, according to our sources, started when some top members of the APC in the area were making attempt to lure voters to vote against PDP at a polling unit in Ike road which PDP agents made attempt to stop before it turns to free for all fight.
One person was reportedly killed during the crisis by an agent of PDP, identified as Otunaye before the police finally stop the fight between the two parties’ supporters.
The police declared Otunaye of house 15, Ike Road, Isi World 7 in Uhunmwande Local government Area of the state and 4 others wanted for masterminding the escalated election crisis in the area.
Although Otunaye appears to have run away from the country, having discovered that he’s in the police wanted list, the police has vowed to bring him to book anytime he returns to the country.
