The final lists of candidates released by the election management board, INEC on Thursday for the 2019 polls have created a confusion in Agege, when an aspirant from a different party was listed as the flagbearer of another party.
Abeeb Dapo Aileru was listed as a house of assembly candidate of the Accord party in Agege state constituency II, even when the politician has no affinity with Accord party.
Aileru contested for the House of Representatives ticket in Agege on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but did not get the ticket and have since accepted his party decision. He is currently leading campaigns for the party governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwoolu and other candidates in the area.
According to Aileru, who expressed shock at seeing his name listed on the final document as the candidate of the Accord party, one Akinola is supposed to be listed for Accord party and not himself.
In his immediate reaction to the development, Aileru popularly known as “BIBIRE”, threatened to drag the Accord party and INEC to court for a redress.
He said: “Expect a press release and subsequent criminal lawsuit on falsification of my personal data by Sunday Ajayi and Accord party. Akinola is their candidate not me.”
The lists released by INEC are the final and to be used for the general election which is about 15 days away from today
