Court Seizes 56 Houses from Diezani

A former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke will forfeit 56 houses located in Lagos and Port Harcourt, which are believed to have been acquired through fraudulent means.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos which gave the order this morning, added that the forfeiture will be on permanent basis.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claimed that Diezani paid $21,982,224 for the properties, adding that it believed that the funds were proceeds of crime.

According to the agency, properties to be forfeited include 29 terraced houses comprising eight four-bedroomed penthouse apartments, six three-bedroomed apartments, two three-bedroomed maisonettes, two twin bedroomed apartments and one four-bedroom apartment.
