APC COUNCIL POLLS: Group Holds Counter Protests, Absolves Obasa of Imposition

In a counter protest in Agege against alleged imposition of candidates for the forthcoming council election, a different group in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have appealed for calm, imploring party faithful to accept the candidacy of Ganiyu Egunjobi as its flagbearer in the July 22nd polls.

Hon Ajibola Fatai, who spoke on behalf of the protesters said the decision has been taken and there is no going back on it.

“Primaries have being done with a ‎consensus as stipulated by the party leaders, Egunjobi emerged as chairmanship candidate of Agege Local Government while Hon. Osanyinpeju Rasheed for Orile Agege Local Council Development Area. But we found out that our candidate for Orile Agege was omitted from the process”. He said

ProtestMeanwhile, office of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission in Agege was attacked by hoodlums damaging the commission’s bus while two persons were severely injured.

Sources told GidiNews that the injured persons have been taken to the hospital are still receiving treatment as at the time of writing this report.

Fatai deny the allegation that the Speaker of the House of Assembly who is also a leader in the party in Agege, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa imposed the said candidates.

‎” He (Obasa) is not aware of all these issue; he has a lot to do in the House of Assembly, all allegations against him are just lies” he said.
