The 2017 edition of the Nigeria International Book Fair (NIBF) has been scheduled to hold between Monday 8th to Saturday 13th May, 2017 at the multipurpose hall of the University of Lagos.
The International Conference of the annual conference will come up on Tuesday 9th May, 2017 with the honourable Minister of Information, Lai Mohammad expected as the special guest of honour while the president of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chief (Mrs.) Nike Akande expected as the Guest of honour.
The conference keynote paper is expected to be delivered by the former registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde. The theme of the conference which also doubles as the theme of the 2017 Book fair is “Book Chain, Government policies and the Promotion of Reading Culture In Africa”.
According to the Chairman, Nigeria Book Fair Trust, Rilwanu Abdusalami the Executive and the Legislative arms of government will be part of the International Conference, which will give participants the opportunity to make their feelings about the book industry and the development of education known to the government.
Abdusalami reiterated that the trust will not relent in her effort to promote reading culture in Nigeria and the entire Africa Continent, stressing that the 2017 book fair has been loaded with lots of side attractions and benefits for visitors, such as free access to the exhibition hails and programs of the book fair, opportunity of buying books and other learning/teaching materials at discount rates among others.
Speaking on the quality of books that will be available at the expo, the Executive Secretary of the Trust, Mr. Abiodun Omotunbi said exhibitors from United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Iran, Senegal and Ghana will join their Nigerian counterpart to participate and display series of quality books at the 16th edition of the annual book show.
