Lagos Police Nab Robbers, Recover Arms

The Nigeria police force has disclosed the arrest of three armed robbers and recovery of arms from suspected hoodlums in Lagos.

PPRO, NwosuPolice Public Relation Officer, Lagos Command, Ken Nwosu in a press statement said precisely on the 9th of Februaty, at about 2000hrs, Policemen attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Ikeja acted on information and arrested three armed robbers namely :  Manven Bali, Chekwube Emeka and Ejike Chukwuemeka in their hideout at Ojudu and Ikorodu areas of Lagos State. He added that the suspects confessed to different robberies in Lagos and Ogun State.

Stressing that 2 locally made double barrel pistols and 14 cartridges were recovered from the hoodlums. He said effort is on to arrest one Alhaji Nuhu alleged to be their criminal receiver, adding that the case is under investigation at Special Anti-Robbery Squad Ikeja.

Nwosu also disclosed that on 11/2/2015 at about 2300hrs, Police patrol Team attached to Ketu Division while on stop and search duty at Mile 12 area, intercepted a Toyota Starlet S/Car with Reg. No. XA 989 REL with Lagos State Commercial Colour driven by one Kunle Owori  of No.15, Anike Abu Street, Bariga with two occupants. He said one of the occupants on sighting the Police jumped out of the vehicle and took to his heel, while the other named, Abiola Shittu  of no fixed address was arrested with cut to size locally made gun. Nwosu explained that effort is on to arrest the fleeing suspect, he added that the case is under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation Yaba.

According to Nwosu, the Police Anti-Robbery Team attached to Adeniji Adele Division On 12/2/2015, responded to a distress call at Isale Eko area of Lagos Island and arrested two suspected robbers namely Segun Gabriel and Quadri Oyeniran  with cutlasses. He said that other suspects at large allegedly attacked passersby with the intention to rob them adding that effort is on to arrest other fleeing hoodlums. He said the case is under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation Yaba.

“On 12/2/2015 at about 1645hrs, Police Patrol team attached to Epe Division responded to distress call at Aiyetoro area of Epe and arrested one Kayode Sefiu of no fixed address with bullet wound on his leg while others escaped. Suspect was taken to General Hospital for treatment. Effort is on to arrest the fleeing hoodlums. The case is under investigation at the Department of Criminal Investigation Yaba” he said.
